Cauterisation of the maxillary artery for cluster headaches
A paper published in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery describes the atraumatic method for cauterising the maxillary artery and the effectiveness thereof in the treatment of cluster headaches.
The paper discusses the findings five cases in which four of the the five patients immediate relief from attacks after surgery. One patient experienced an attack during surgery which ceased the moment the maxillary artery was clamped.
